Robotics @ University School
Mindstorms in the Middle school
As part of the middle school science curriculum, University School students are asked to design their own robotic factory. After independently researching principles of engineering and manufacturing, their creative inventions are put on display in the classroom.
FIRST Robotics Tech Challenge
Students at the Upper School have the opportunity to join the Robotics Club and compete annually in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) competition. FTC teams are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and is programmed using a variety of languages. Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.
